Introducing Moi . . .

Hello everyone!

I know you’re all thinking, who the hell are you?  I wonder that all the time.  Or at least when I’ve been hitting the whisky too hard at the Noble Savage.  ANYWAY.  I am a writer, I swear.  I just don’t have much, yet.  No pretty covers, no website, no book . . . but I do have a DEAL!

http://www.orbitbooks.net/2008/11/03/deals-and-deliveries-nicole-peeler/

My first novel, Tempest Rising, will be coming out in Nov. 09 (she says, with great confidence) and I’ve just submitted my second novel, Tracking the Tempest, to my fabulous editor, Devi.  Who is also Jaye’s fabulous editor.  We may wrestle over her, later.  Stay tuned.

So I’m new to this whole “writing” gig.  I just turned my hand to it starting last April.  Basically, I know nothing.  I’m flying by the well-worn seat of my yoga pants.  I am in a constant state of either euphoria or acid reflux, depending on the level/nature of the news I have just gotten from my various people.  For I now have a bit of an entourage.  Which is one of the things that makes me nauseous.

Anyway, the point is, I want you to go through this with me.  Let’s all clasp hands and do a happy dance when the time is right. . . or you can hold my hair back when I puke my guts out.   Ask me questions about the process.  I won’t be able to answer them, most likely, as I don’t know Shinola from shish-kebabs.  But I’ll probably go through that stage of “the process” sometime soon, so then we’ll all know the answer.  I am like your own, personal Idiotz Guide to Becoming a Writer.  So give me a shout out with any things you would like to know/hear about.  I am here FOR YOU, people.  For.  You.

I figured I'd post and return the favor, lady... I bet you cant wait until YOUR cover is blog-ready, huh? ah, torturing authors is so fun... Actually I havent gotten final art back from Sharon yet but i'm sure it'll be AWESOME.

Lauren! Yay! Love it when Orbit's Artistic Genius pops in! And I can't WAIT for the final version, I love her stuff so much. And I already love the sketch, and that's not even where her magic lies. Anyway, keep me posted on the ETA so I can have someone ready to catch me when I faint with wonder. :-)

Nicole, I'm so proud of you. You kept your post under a page. Also, I'm glad you're soliciting hair holder-backers cause we're gonna need them when you come to Dallas.

I did my best, Jaye. Maybe the three days of not talking has taught me a lesson. Or I'm just gearing up for One. Massive. Post.

And DALLAS HERE I COME. I am bringing my statistician friend. She can analyze just how inappropriate we are and then make a graph.

Does your friend know you make her out to sound like a boring stick-in-the-mud? By the time Mark, you and I are done, she will be 100% cooler.
*wonders how on earth she's supposed to match that intro*

:-D

Welcome, Nicole. I look forward to trying to scam ARCs off you in the near future.

The "statistician" friend is SO not a stick in the mud-- I can vouch for that as another fellow tiny Entourage-member. But she probably can make a killer graph, and the labels will be very funny.

More about Nicole. She's a fabulous friend, and having heard a few glorious excerpts but waiting with the rest of you for the rest, I know you'll like her stor(ies). I'm pretty much a self-proclaimed expert in the field (self-proclaimed cuz no one else believes me).

And all this about being the idiotz guide is just her being nervous. She's got this thing down. :)

And T.M. Thomas: I get the ARCs first. Dang it.

how do we contact you to get copies for review? :)

Welcome Nicole! Congrats on the new deal and the upcoming release. I will have to volunteer for the hair holding job as I have absolutely no talent in the writing area!

Hi Kelly! You're new too! Let's bond!

Thanks Kim! Although ML can definitely take care of herself. She wields a mean whip.

Macbeaner . . . uhhhhhh . . .that's sort of one of those questions I don't know the answer to. Who DOES one contact when someone wants copies for review? Orbit? Obviously I can hook it up, as I'm not exactly at the personal assistant stage. Yet. ;-)

Thanks Lori! I dub thee official hair holder . . .
You are a brave, brave woman. I witnessed the scourge of the blue drank a la Jaye and Mark, and I still have nightmares. *shivers*

Welcome!!
I'm new to this too, but I still think I like LJ better (;
I'm sure you'll do great, you seem like a really nice woman (:

Jackie: AAH! Drank! Like Lil Wayne sings about????

Taylor-Marie: Thanks! I AM nice. Just ask my students. Okay, please, don't ask them. Just. Not. Them.
